Teaching aims
I Knowledge aims
To enable the students to learn and master the six names of months.
To enable the students to master and use the sentence patterns“When is...” “It’s in...”.
To make sure that students can use these words and sentences in real situations.

VII Teaching procedures
StepI Warm-up
Listen to a song named “The months” and ask “What will we learn in this unit?”
Let students answer: the months of a year.
StepII Presentation
Present the new vocabularies: January, February, March, April, May, June.
1. Show a picture “January”, and present the new word “January” to students.
Read the word and make sure they can read it correctly.
Write the new word on the blackboard and let students spell together.
Show the other picture about New Year’s Day. And say “New Year’s Day is in January.”
Then present a new sentence patterns by using a short chant “When, when, when is New Year’s Day?” and “January, January, It’s in January.” Let students listen and chant it together.
2. In the same way, show pictures of February, March, April, May, June and let students read them. Then present sentence patterns by chanting.
Divide the whole class into four groups to have a competition.
Invite some students to chant the sentences for us.
Encourage them to volunteer to act out and then give their group the smiling face.
StepIII Practice
1. The teacher points the words and let students read.
2. Ply a game named “whack-a-mole ”.
Let students to read the game rules by themselves.
Game rules:
(1) Choose 9 students from each groups to read words.
(2) If the student reads the word correctly, the mole will be whacked.
(3) If all the moles are whacked, your group can get a smiling face.
(4) Each students has one chance to read.
StepIV Production
1. Let students watch the video and listen to the conversation.
2. Let students imitate the dialogue and pay attention to their pronunciation.
3. Play a game.
Let students look at the calendar on the screen and remember the when the festivals and activities are.
Tell them: Invite two students to answer the questions.
The teacher asks three questions, the faster one to answer the question and the answer is correct who is the winner and can get one smiling face.
Let’s chant
Let students look at a form and know what they will do.
Play a video and let students chant it and do the action.
StepV Moral lesson
Invite students to look at some pictures, the pictures show what our parents do for us. Let students know they are growing up and their parents are growing old. Tell them: “Love your parents as the way they like you.”

Write a short passage about “What will you do for your mom on Mother's Day?”
